The RTK BASE is set up using a simple configuration software from a PC over the USB port.

In normal operation the system would be operated in survey mode, this gives absolute positional accuracy of a few cm but does require 30 hours to obtain the first survey. The survey is repeated to account for movement in the surface of the earth at the location of the antenna. Monthly surveys are recommended but the frequency of these can be altered if required.

In usual operation it is recommended that all RTCM corrections are output, this will enable any GNSS receiver to make maximum use of all available signals.
