When the CAN interface is connected directly to a standalone DASH2 it must be connected using the special null modem type serial lead supplied. The “Serial Data Out” connector from the CAN Interface should be connected to one end of the null modem cable and the serial cable from the DASH2 is connected to the other end. The power adaptor cable should be connected to the “Serial Data In” connector on the CAN interface and a 12V supply should be connected to the power cable. This power adaptor cable remains connected both in normal use and when configuring the CAN interface from the PC. The null modem cable is used only in normal use. When configuring the ECU interface from the PC the null modem cable is removed and the configuration cable is fitted to the “Serial Data Out” connector in its place.
