HowDoI / CommunicateWithALogger

How do I make my DASH1/DASH2 communicate with my DL1/DL2; i.e.: recognize stop/start logging commands?

Once you have configured one of the buttons on your Dashboard Display to act as a start/stop switch for your Logger ( see the relevant article here), you will need to make your Dash and Logger communicate.

Firstly, you will need to configure the DL1. Enter the DL1 configuration tool, and make sure that the "Decode serial data" button is ticked.

In version 7 of the software, the box is ticked as a default.

In earlier versions of the software, the box will be labelled "Enable GSM modem mode", and you will need to tick it yourself.

When the box is ticked, transfer the configuration to the logger.

Ensuring that it is in the FAT16 format, format the CF card and inset it into the logger.

Now, when the Start/Stop button is pressed on the DASH, a tick will appear in the top right hand corner of the screen to show that data is being logged.

The logger should also light up to show that data is being logged.
