Internal and External data logging
Two types of data logging is possible with DASH5PRO.
Internal logging (3.1 - start/stop Internal Logging)
In this mode, logged run data including internal GPS module data, internal sensor data, and lap marker files are stored on the internal memory.
Select the menu item 3.1 to start/stop the data logging. A pop up messege will appear showing "Internal Logging start" or "Internal Logging Stopped" after you start/stop the logging.
The GPS / Logging license is required for internal data logging.
The DASH5PRO will generate live timeslip data for display in this mode.
External logging (3.2 - start/stop External Logging)
In this mode, DASH5PRO starts external data logger. Data logger stores the logged runs it its card DASH5PRO displays the data coming from the external logger.
Select the menu item 3.2 to start/stop the external data logging. A pop up message will appear showing "External Logging start" or "External Logging Stopped" after you start/stop the logging.
Setting up a button to start/stop logging on DL1/DL2
1. First configure one of the buttons on your DASH5PRO display act as a start/stop logging by following the instruction in this page.
Note:Please select the "Start/Stop Logging On Extended Device" as the button function.
2. Enter the DL1/DL2 configuration tool, and make sure that the "Decode serial data" option is ticked. The Data Logger must be configured with this option ticked. Without enabling the Decode Serial data option on the Data Logger the commands from the DASH5PRO will be ignored.
Note: from version 7 of the configuration tool, the Decode serial data option is ticked as a default.
3. Insert a correctly formatted compact flash card (in FAT16 format) into the Data Logger.
4. Press the start/stop logging button on the DASH5PRO.
Whenever it is pressed, a command will be sent to the Data Logger to start or stop logging. If logging starts, the logging status pop-up window will appear and display the “External Logging Started” message on screen.
5. If logging has started, you can stop data logging by pressing the start/stop logging button on the DASH5PRO.
When logging stops the logging status pop-up window will appear and display the “External Logging Stopped” message on screen.
